On this page, you will find links to various resources that I think you will find helpful for doing business internationally, including presentations, legal agreement templates, articles, websites, apps, and tools.
Presentations
Cross-Cultural Negotiations. These are the written materials for a continuing legal education program sponsored by the Association of Corporate Counsel – Colorado Chapter titled: “SHAKE HANDS OR BOW: Practical Tips for Cross-Cultural Negotiations (PDF).” I organized and moderated the event and also gave a presentation on: “NEGOTIATING WITH AMERICANS: The View From the Other Side (PPT).” It addresses the characteristics that Americans typically exhibit in a negotiation and how those traits impact their foreign counterparts.
Negotiating Tips. This is a presentation that I gave for a “Legal Quick Hit” webinar sponsored by the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Legal Department Management Committee. It is my: “Top 10 Tips on Negotiating (PDF).”
Applications
iTranslate – This is my all-time favorite application. It instantaneously translates your spoken words into 90+ foreign languages – and displays it in writing and speaks it audibly. (It also translates foreign speech into your chosen language.) It’s amazing technology that I have used many times. Best part? It’s completely free (at least for now!)
duolingo – Learn the basics of several foreign languages through fun, interactive games. (free)
